Cultural interactions can never be confined to geographical boundaries, Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development, Shashi Tharoor, has said.
The Union Minister was inaugurating a meeting of woman writers in southern India, organised by the Kerala Sahitya Akademi in association with the People for Performing Arts, at Chengannur recently. According to him, though literary works are confined to time and space, creative writings very well outlive this time and space.
Mr. Tharoor said cultural exchange programmes would lead to better understanding of other people’s way of life. There is much difference in the sensibilities of man and woman and hence an exclusive meeting of woman writers has always got relevance, Mr. Tharoor said. Perumpadavom Sreedharan, Kerala Sahitya Akademi president, presided over the inaugural function.
