Book Review – Anthropocene: Climate Change, Contagion, Consolation by Sudeep Sen

Poet and fictionist, Rochelle Potkar reviews Sudeep Sen‘s poetry collection Anthropocene: Climate Change, Contagion, Consolation (Pippa Rann U.K, 2021) observing how this book comes full circle in contemplating microscopic qualia in lyrical lines and phrases of haiku, free verse, and prose essays.

Author of prize-winning poetry books, Sudeep Sen has edited influential poetry anthologies. His words have appeared in the Times Literary Supplement, Newsweek, Guardian, Observer, Independent, Telegraph, Harvard Review among others, and broadcast on BBC, PBS, CNN IBN, NDTV, AIR & Doordarshan. He is the first Asian to deliver the Derek Walcott Lecture and read at the Nobel Laureate Festival.

With a transmutation of sensing ephemerality, in Anthropocene: Climate Change, Contagion, Consolation, Sen’s inquisitive ink sketches an interrogation of a world gone uncertain with climate change, atmospheric meltdowns, with its trickle-down effects in humans, animals, and insects alike.
