In this short story, Renu Singh Parmar narrates a slice of life incident with a brilliant tongue-in-cheek humour leaving the reader in splits.
I was leading a peaceful life as any SHO (Station House Officer) could lead daily complaints of fighting neighbours, thefts of cycles, bags, iron rods and even tiffin boxes. Things could get so dull out here that one had to play a game of swatting flies, earning scores every time one went down!
Except for that day when a body had been found near the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Hingonia which comes under my circle. When I reached the spot with my constables, the place was overflowing with local villagers, some shouting, others taking videos of the body, and gesticulating wildly. I was irritated to note that the local media had managed to get there before me. And that nosy parker, Vineet was already talking to the crowd and asking them if they knew the dead man.
