Title: Read me a story: Crafting professional reading aloud for serious story readers

Synopsis: Pull the words off the page and bring them to life! The course starts with work on the vocal quality itself, using breathing and movement techniques employed by actors, professional readers, broadcasters and public figures to increase the strength and reach of their voice. Participants then go on to work intensively on their readings in skills such as vocal tone, clarity, pausing and emphasis, tidying up errors made in pronunciation, cadence and rhythm.

Title: Good, Clean Copy – How editing can make good writing great

Synopsis: Learn a wide variety of editing techniques and do practical assignments to learn about the positive impact that a red pen can have on a writer’s work. Find out how to develop something of a split personality where you can switch off your writer’s brain and switch on your editor’s brain to make the most out of the two very distinct approaches that these very different roles have to your writing.

Title:  Discover the storyteller within you 3: Storytelling with unusual props

Synopsis: Young children aged 2 -10 understand a story better when props are used.  Manipulating props to tell a story makes abstracts concepts such as sequencing more concrete for children in this age group. In this workshop, participants will learn to bring ‘open-ended’ materials to life  as ‘props’ and tell stories to guide audience’s imagination and later facilitate their retelling of the story.

Title: Copywriting workshop

Synopsis: Learn new approaches to copywriting and gain tips and confidence to help you in your writing process and boost your confidence. Learn universal principles that really work whether you sell offline or online; write copy for readers and not ‘markets’ or products; focus on the 10-second call and on calls to action. There will be short exercises on critiquing examples of copy, and working on real examples brought by participants.
