In this short story, Ghulam Mohammad Khan brings to life a character that is a strong yet unrecognized part of society and how our prejudices blind us towards them.
People still called him Koosh, a moniker that had stuck with him since his youth. Despite the passage of years, he remained relatively unchanged. Now well past fifty, he would often be found sitting on the same shop-front in the market street, where he continued to tease passersby with his clever puns and humorous insults. Despite his age, his wit and sarcasm remained as sharp as ever. Koosh had become so infamous for his libel, quick tongue, and sharp retorts that nobody in the village dared to confront him. His words were like venom, spreading hate and sowing discord among the villagers. He took pleasure in using his wit to belittle and demean others, leaving a trail of hurt feelings and damaged relationships in his wake.
