Essay: The Quiet Space by Sufia Khatoon
1 min read
In this essay, Sufia Khatoon shares pictures and experiences from her visit to an empty art gallery (Kolkata Centre for Creativity).
Entering an art gallery, a wide-eyed empty space of pure white walls, dimly lit to focus one’s attention on the worlds inside a work of art, one can sense immediately all kinds of distractions ceasing away. The first striking thing you’ll find is this white space, surrounded with surrealist paintings is ‘the quiet space’ embracing your body and mind slowly as you settle inside it. Sometimes it’s like a tapestry of threaded imagination or a massive scroll of human stories hanging in the middle to ease your rattled mind out of ‘the everyday’.
