The Story Company India’s workshops for February–March, led by experienced publishing and writing professionals, promise to be a great resource for all writers.

We are delighted to share The Story Company India’s February–March workshop line-up, a series designed to help writers strengthen their manuscripts through a deeper understanding of publishing, research, editing, and world-building. Each session is led by experienced publishing and writing professionals and focuses on practical, actionable craft learning.

Details of the workshop contents, the facilitators, and how to apply to each of them are shared below.


February 14 and 15 | 11 am IST

Why Good Manuscripts Get Rejected (And What to Do About It)

Facilitator: Kanchana Banerjee

Kanchana Banerjee is an author and writing coach trained with the London School of Journalism and Curtis Brown, with extensive experience in manuscript mentoring and publication readiness. This workshop examines why promising manuscripts are often rejected and offers practical strategies to strengthen submission quality and publishing readiness.

February 21 and 22 | 11 am IST

Making the Past Come Alive: Research in Historical Fiction

Facilitator: Harini Srinivasan

Harini Srinivasan is an accomplished author, editor, and content and project management professional with over 25 years of experience across publishing, government, and edtech in India, Germany, and the Netherlands. She is the author of acclaimed historical fiction, including The Curse of Anuganga, Shadows and Secrets: The Pataliputra Conspiracy, and The Merchant of Nagapattinam: The Origin Story. The workshop explores research methods, sourcing historical detail, and integrating research seamlessly into narrative.

The Work of Editing

Facilitator: Dr Pallavi Narayan

Dr Pallavi Narayan is a writer, editor, and editorial mentor with professional experience across India and Singapore, and has held senior editorial and commissioning roles with international publishers including Penguin Random House, Pan Macmillan, Routledge, and NUS Press. A recipient of the prestigious Frankfurt Fellowship, she has taught and mentored writers and editors at institutions including Ahmedabad University, O.P. Jindal Global University, National University of Singapore, IIT Delhi, and the University of California, Santa Barbara. This intensive workshop focuses on developmental editing, structural clarity, and the practical editorial frameworks writers can apply to their manuscripts.

March 15 | 10 am to 1 pm IST

Making Place Matter: A World Building Workshop

Facilitator: Meeti Shroff Shah

Meeti Shroff Shah is the author of the Temple Hill Mystery series, published in the UK, India, and Japan, and has been shortlisted for the CWA Whodunnit Dagger (2025), nominated for the People’s Book Prize (UK, 2025), and shortlisted for the Times of India AutHer Awards (2023). Her work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Condé Nast Traveler, and Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine. This workshop explores how setting and place shape narrative tension, character experience, and reader immersion.
