“New Trends in Global South Humanities”

The Journal of Faculty of Arts, Aligarh Muslim University, is soliciting original articles for its upcoming issue (Vol. 15, 2022-2023) on the broad theme “New Trends in Global South Humanities.” The Journal welcomes submissions that are critically informed interventions in contemporary humanistic scholarship covering a wide range of topics and adopting a diverse set of methodologies and approaches. Both “humanities” and “the Global South” are not merely descriptive categories; they are also analytical apparatuses that enable and disable particular habits of thought and ways of being and acting in the world.

More than a geographical category encompassing the continents of Asia, Africa, and Latin America, the Global South proffers a vantage point from which to view the world in ways that dismantle the ethnocentric grand narratives of the West. Contemporary humanistic scholarship emerging from the Global South deals with a host of pressing issues from an inter and/or trans-disciplinary standpoint where both humans and non- humans’ figure as protagonists and objects of analysis. The Journal welcomes contributions that seek to theoretically or empirically explore human and non- human phenomena from a “Global South humanities” perspective ranging from arts, languages and literatures to material cultures.

Namrata is a published author who enjoys writing stories and think pieces on travel, relationships, and gender. She is a UEA alumnus and has studied travel writing at the University of Sydney.

She is also an independent editor and a book reviewer. Her short stories have been a part of various anthologies . She has also published two short story collections of her own along with two solo titles as well. She is currently working on her debut novel. She loves travelling the length and breadth of the world and enjoys capturing the magic of life in her words. She is always in pursuit of a new country and a new story.
