Short Story: Lola by V S Koushik

1 min read

V.S. Koushik’s short story is full of innocence and unbridled joy, making it a read that tugs your heartstrings only to move you to tears towards the end.

Mummy says I was only thirty-four days when she took me in.

“Oh! How you cried and whined all the way home!”

She says the man she bought me from was evil and vile.

“He carried you in a little green basket over four hundred miles.”

It’s a story she’s narrated over a hundred times and it always ends

With kisses and hugs and giggles and smiles.

We are a family of four and mummy you already know.

And then there is daddy who is mostly out.
