We live our lives like a set of stories with multiple minds for multiple moments. Yet we reach one particular or specific conclusion – contentment. On the way, we get to find the bits and parts of what keeps us happy and sad, alive and dead, rational and irrational. Sucharita Dutta-Asane’s recent book of short stories These Tongues that Grow Roots, describes the various forms of life we get to either live or see around us with kindness and wisdom. But, at the same time, it does not restrict a sharp-edged blade to skin unnecessary weight and venting out very personal emotions. The act requires courage and as the title says, we need to have strong roots to not get uprooted while ranting and writing about these uncomfortable moments like the alter ego of the writer – Cassandra.
