Short Story: Grapevine

In this short-story, Jeena R. Papaadi takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of intrigue, suspense, and glee, liberally sprinkled with office politics and loads of gossip.

Aswathi had her hand over her mouth as she emerged from the meeting room. The rest of her face was set in a scowl. People with coffee mugs in their hands stopped midstride to watch her. She kept her eyes averted, not even glancing at her friend Bethany, and hurried to the ladies’ room.

A few heads were visible above the cabin half-walls; hands were raised in different stretching poses; yawns and conversations resonated in the large hall. Everyone had dragged a bit of Sunday with them into their Monday morning.

“What’s up with her?” Madan said to Bethany, his eyes following Aswathi.
