In this captivating short story, Sangeetha G takes us through the crowded local train stations of Mumbai and gives us a glimpse into the life of one tired soul navigating survival in a crowded city.

It was on the day when he managed to grab a seat on the suburban train during his one-hour ride to the office that Gopi discovered the purpose of his life. He slept, woke up, and dressed in his best, second-best, or third-best clothes every day, like millions of others, to make crowds in Mumbai bigger. It was he and the rest of the millions who were making Mumbai, the city it is.

That realisation made everything clear to him. Thirty years of his life were now making sense. “Mumbai would not have been Mumbai if I was not there,” he felt a sense of overwhelming pride.
