Poem: An Untold Story by Barnali Ray Shukla

sita srilanka

When Sita strung Shiva’s bow

She started  a new story

A story that found her a husband

A garland that made her his queen

A knot that made them partners

A tie that was a bond , for life or maybe just for the wife

The page turned and opened  an old promise

That started the next chapter

of another new story

And the next page sent them to exile

An exile that went to a voyage

A voyage to herself

In the power of another man

Etched with fear and heartache of a war

Or was it something else

A something that redefines

of  all that could be confined

Confronted

Confided

and they found themselves

amidst an epic

but maybe remains

yet another  untold story.

About Barnali Ray Shukla

Learning biology with plant tissue -culture as my specialization, taught me how a single-unit of life can nurture generations … taught me patience, persistence, adapting. Topped the University of Delhi in graduation and post-grad. Now married and working in Mumbai, for a bite of the sun & some cheesecake. Hope to empower a few at least and render power to the proverbial pen. Worked with Ram Gopal Varma, Sudhir Mishra, Ekta Kapoor. Debut film as a writer-director KUCCH LUV JAISAA, was released in May 2011. Am scripting my next feature-film & have started writing my debut novel. Closer to my dream, of traveling as much of the spectrum of human emotions, in every storytelling format that I can.
