Warran Kalasegaran’s short story talks about a Singaporean lawyer who has recurrent nightmares about the Goddess Kali in a powerful narrative.
Flashes of night blue. Blood splattering as she twirled in a dance. The skulls jangling.
Her eyes opened. She sat up in her bed, tank top drenched in sweat, red nails clutching the bedsheets so tight they almost pierced the fabric. The crack she deliberately left between the curtains allowed the moonlight to shimmer through. It fell on the door to her room, to show that it remained locked. But in the immediate panic of waking up, she could not help but sense the presence lurking on the other side.
