Essay: Pedaling Honeymoons by Dilantha Gunawardana

1 min read

In this essay, Dilantha Gunawardana writes about bicycles in Sri Lanka and traces their journey in the country.

My first cousin got married to his then-Chinese girlfriend, and as the story was told, they got married at a marriage registrar and went to their apartment in their chosen getaway vehicles, two push bicycles. Bicycles in Sri Lanka have got an invigoration of sorts due to the poverty of fuel in the country and secondly, due to the inauguration of cycling pathways surrounding wetlands in Colombo.
