In this short story, Gaurav Moghe traces a day in the life of a government clerk who grapples with jealousy towards his younger brother working in a private company in the city. It delves into themes of sibling rivalry, professional dissatisfaction, and the contrasting lives within different work environments.

A car pulled up outside the office premises, and a man in a crisp white polo shirt and khaki shorts stepped out. Vilas, seated at his desk, leaned to his left, observing the man’s confident stride as he ascended the stairs to the main hall. Recognizing the familiar gait, Vilas knew it was Vikram, his younger sibling. Last week, Vikram had visited Vilas’ home, sporting the same shades of green that now caught Vilas’ eye.

Memories of Suhail, Vilas’ son, donning Vikram’s silver-rimmed glasses and laughing at the green-tinged world flooded Vilas’ mind. “Everything looks so evil,” Suhail had giggled.
