Team Kitaab is in conversation with Lalitha Ramanathan, author of Parenting Unplugged (Om Books, 2025), to know about her own journey as a parent that inspired this book.
Lalitha Ramanathan is a finance manager-turned-author. She is an I.I.T. Delhi alumnus and has worked with a global F.M.C.G. giant in the finance department. When her love for words overtook her love for spreadsheets, she decided to pursue her passion for writing. Her short stories feature in over thirteen anthologies.
Team Kitaab: Parenting Unplugged is filled with humorous yet heartfelt anecdotes. What made you decide to turn these everyday parenting moments into a book?
Lalitha Ramanathan: Years ago, we had just moved into a new house. I remember sitting among unopened boxes while my disgruntled toddler demanded I dig through all of them to find her missing teddy bear. I was exhausted, the mattresses weren’t even set up, and the whole place was a mess. Instead of snapping, I just burst out laughing, because the scene was too ridiculous. Soon, everyone else joined in.
