Team Kitaab is in conversation with Hemangini Dutt Majumder, author of The Scratch and Sniff Chronicles (Niyogi Books, 2025), where she talks about the story behind this story.

Hemangini Dutt Majumder currently lives in Singapore with her husband and two children who inspired her children’s story, The Mystery of the Many, Many Missing Things. She spent sixteen years working in MNCs in the US and the Asia Pacific region in People Development and Talent. Her personal experience of hyperosmia—smell sensitivity related to fluctuating hormones—has led to a continuing quest for comfort through familiar and favourite smells and more recently the idea for this novel.
