Novelist Vikram Seth denounces Indian Supreme Court’s verdict on gay rights
Author Vikram Seth on Wednesday expressed shock and disappointment at the Supreme Court verdict that upheld the validity of the penal provision making gay sex an offence, striking down the Delhi high court’s earlier ruling decriminalizing it.
“Today is a great day for prejudice and inhumanity and a bad day for law and love,” Seth said in an interview to Barkha Dutt of NDTV. “But law develops and love is resilient. So prejudice and inhumanity will be beaten back. Law and love will prevail,” he said.
