As Beijing continues to host its political season, known as the “Two Sessions,” members of the Literature and Art circles are expressing their hopes and concerns in the cultural arena.
In October 2014, Chinese President Xi Jinping called on artists to reflect the spirit of the age and to embrace the “Chinese Dream,” while embracing individuality and originality. And this guidance still echoes for China’s cultural leaders.
“As soon as the forum was over, I went to a fishing village in the South China Sea area and then quite a lot of other places for inspiration. Every time I started composing something, I would go to people’s real life instead of doing it at home,” said Zhao Jiping, NPC deputy.
