The extensive list of speakers at the festival this year includes a motley crew of award- winning writers and academics from across the globe. From Pulitzers to Man Bookers— the “somebodies” of the art and culture world, will all be there.

Renowned brands in literature and art who have confirmed their participation include writers Jhumpa Lahiri, Jerry Pinto, Amish Tripathi; actor Rupert Everett, actor and theatre personality Irrfan Khan, and sports personality Mar Kom to name a few.

Speaking at the ‘My Literature, My Film’ event, organized by National Book Trust at the 15{+t}{+h} North East Book Fair, Buddhadeb Dasgupta and Jahnu Barua, who are also very close friends, ended the centenary year of Indian cinema by urging youngsters to develop an interest in good literature and cinema. This, they said, will help them understand life and society better.

The best-selling author and journalist will be the keynote speaker at the inaugural day of the festival, which will be held at the Beach Luxury Hotel from February 7 till February 9. Apart from Fisk, over 100 Pakistani and 30 international writers will grace the festival, including famous historian Dr Rajmohan Gandhi, a grandson of Mahatma Gandhi.
