Prominent cultural figure Sheikha Shamma Bint Mohammad Bin Khalid Al Nahyan received the 2015 Emirates Literature Foundation Personality of the Year Award in recognition of her major contribution towards fostering literacy, education and love of literature in all its forms.
Children, poetry and a pair of freakishly realistic horse puppets were all part of the fun at the opening night of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature.
Many of the guest authors who will appear during the festival were at March 3’s event held in the theatre of The Cultural and Scientific Association in Dubai’s Al Mamzar, which also included a special address by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, the UAE’s Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development.
Emirates Airline Festival of Literature launched a new free application to give access to information on the festival, which will take place from March 3 to the 7th.

Literature-enthusiasts will soon have reason to be excited! Tickets for the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature 2015 go on sale on January 15, organisers have announced. Tickets will be available on the Festival website http://www.emirateslitfest.com and at select WHSmith stores. The 2015 programme will be available online from January 8 and distributed around the Emirates.
