IMG_0570Here is a short story contest that spreads across the Commonwealth countries.

The regional awards will be £2500 and the overall award will be £5000.

The contest ends November 1st 2019.

The entries can range from 2000 to 5000 words.

This year, an added feature of the Karachi Literature Festival was awards for books written on various subjects by Pakistanis.

The three prizes offered were: German embassy prize for a book promoting international peace, French embassy prize for best fiction and Coca Cola prize for non-fiction.

The German embassy prize was bagged by noted author and intellectual, Akbar Ahmed, for his work titled ‘Thistles and Drones’. The prize was given away by German consul-general Tilo Klinner.

Karachi, 11 March. The Pakistani-American author, Danyal Mueenuddin won the regional (Europe and South Asia) Commonwealth Writers Prize 2010 for the Best First Book for his story collection Other Rooms Other Wonders set mostly in Southern Punjab where he farms. The judges considered the book “remarkable for its clear, exact prose and its wide scope … the short sharp pithy
observations and details” according to Muneeza Shamsie the Regional Chairperson of the CWP 2010.
